Individual National Championship History

2012-13 Edward Cheserek, Newark, NJ

One of the great prep distance runners repeated as Foot Locker National Champion. The only runner to ever break 12-minutes over the Van Cortlandt Park 4K (11:55.39), only the second runner ever (Dathan Ritzenhein 14:10/14:16 in 2001) to break 14:20 for 5000 meters on a cross country course (14:18.70); current indoor two-mile record holder 8:39.15; current indoor 5000m record holder 13:57.04.

2011-12 Edward Cheserek, Newark, NJ

After finishing 2nd to 2010 National Champion Lukas Verzbicas at Nike Cross Nationals Cheserek entered 2011 determined to win Foot Locker Nationals. In one of the greatest finals in National Championship history, Cheserek narrowly defeated Futsum Zeinesellassie to claim his title.

2010-11 Lukas Verzbicas, Sandburg, IL

In our opinion, the greatest prep cross country runner (and distance runner) of all-time. The only athlete to win both Nike Cross Nationals and Foot Locker Nationals in the same season. Is the only athlete to defeat Edward Cheserek in cross country. Ran 13:54 at Detweiller and finished out his career undefeated. The prep two-mile record holder (8:29.46); broke 4-minutes for the mile (3:59.71); and claimed the World Junior Triathlon Championships Gold Medal.

2012-13 Sarah Baxter, Simi Valley, CA

Undefeated in three years of xc competition Baxter has never lost a race. The 2011 NXN champion as a sophomore is the first high school girl to break 16-minutes for 3-miles. Won Mt. Sac in a historic 16:00 and then backed it up with a national record 15:53 3-mile win at CIF Southern Section Championships, CIF State Record 16:40 5000 meters. Finished her season as repeat Nike Cross Nationals Champion.

2011-12 Molly Seidel, Hartland, WI

2011 Foot Locker National Champion

2010-11 Aisling Cuffe, Cornwall, NY

The 2010 Foot Locker cross country national champion, 2011 USA Junior cross country and New Balance Indoor Nationals 2-mile titles, set the junior national record in the 2-mile with a time of 9:54.22, seven-time New York state champion and five-time NYS Federation champion, won two USA Junior 5Kchampionships, in 2009 and 2010 named the Gatorade National Girls Runner of the Year in 2010-11, after winning similar state honors twice, 2011 NYS Gatorade Track Athlete of the Year.
